How to Close a Floor

Take one or more whole floors offline for a set period while the rest of the building stays open.

Before you start

  • You need to be a Global Admin or a Building Admin. Building Admins can only close floors in the buildings they're assigned to.

  • Closing a floor is available only on WorkOps Pro. Closing a whole building is available on all plans — see How to Create and Configure Building Closures.

Start a floor closure

There are two ways to start, depending on whether you're closing one floor or several.

  • One floor: On the building detail page, open the floor's kebab (⋮) menu and select Create closure.

    Close a single floor
  • Several floors: Tick the checkbox against each floor you want to close, then select Create closure in the action bar at the bottom of the screen.

The bar shows how many floors you've selected. Choosing the floors in one go keeps related work in a single closure rather than several.

Close multiple floors at a time

What the closure covers

On the Create closure page, the Review affected spaces section confirms what you're closing and a breakdown of the spaces impacted. This gives you a clear picture of the closure's reach before you commit to it.

Closing a floor cascades down — every neighbourhood and space on that floor closes with it. The building and any other floors stay open, and the building is flagged as impacted because it contains closed space.

Continue and schedule

From here, the rest of the flow is the same as a building closure. Set the schedule, check the impact, add any cancellation messages, then review and schedule. See How to Create and Configure Building Closures for the full walkthrough.

Good to know

  • You can close several floors in one closure. Closing five floors for the same reason at the same time is one closure, not five. This keeps things tidy and makes editing easier later.

  • A floor closure cascades down. Closing a floor closes every neighbourhood and space on it — you don't need to close anything inside it first.

  • The rest of the building stays open. Only the floors you select close. The building is flagged as impacted but remains bookable elsewhere.

FAQs

Can I close floors in more than one building at once?

No. A closure covers a single building. To close floors in another building, create a separate closure.

What happens to the rest of the building?

It stays open. Only the floors you select are closed, and the building is flagged as impacted because it contains closed space.
