Closing a neighbourhood or an individual space takes part of a floor offline for a set period, while the rest of the floor stays open.
Close a whole neighbourhood for zone-level work like reconfiguring a team area, or close individual spaces — a single desk, room, parking spot, locker or pod — for one-off issues like a broken desk or a room being redecorated.
You can also do both in the same closure.
Before you start
You need to be a Global Admin or a Building Admin. Building Admins can only close space in the buildings they're assigned to.
Closing a neighbourhood or an individual space is available only on WorkOps Pro. Closing a whole building is available on all plans — see How to Create and Configure Building Closures.
Start the closure
You can close whole neighbourhoods, individual spaces, or a mix of both, as long as they're all on the same floor.
One neighbourhood or space: Open the neighbourhood's/space's kebab (⋮) menu and select Create closure.
Several neighbourhoods or spaces: On the floor, tick the checkbox against each neighbourhood or space you want to close, then select Create closure in the action bar at the bottom of the screen.
You can select space on a single floor at a time. To close space on another floor, create a separate closure.
What the closure covers
On the Create closure page, the read-only Review affected spaces section confirms what you're closing: the building, the floor, the neighbourhoods affected and a breakdown of the spaces affected — for example "12 desks / 2 rooms".
Closing a whole neighbourhood closes every space inside it.
Closing individual spaces closes only the spaces you select.
Either way, the parent areas that contain closed space — the neighbourhood, the floor and the building — are flagged as impacted. They stay open, and anything you didn't select remains bookable.
Continue and schedule
From here, the rest of the flow is the same as a building closure. Set the schedule, check the impact, add any cancellation messages, then review and schedule. See How to Create and Configure Building Closures for the full walkthrough.
Good to know
One floor at a time. A single closure covers neighbourhoods and spaces on one floor. Anything on another floor needs a separate closure.
A neighbourhood closure cascades down. Closing a neighbourhood closes every space inside it — you don't need to close those spaces first.
Closing individual spaces leaves everything else open. Only the spaces you select close. The neighbourhood, floor and building around them are flagged as impacted but stay open.
You can mix the two. Close whole neighbourhoods and individual spaces together in one closure, as long as they're on the same floor.
