Multiple Statuses in a Single Day

Split your day into more than one Kadence status — e.g. in the office in the morning, remote in the afternoon.

Written by Liza

Previously, Kadence only let you set one status for a whole day — your day was either "In the office," "Working remotely," or another single status, all day long. Now you can split a single day into multiple time-blocked statuses instead — for example, working in the office in the morning and remotely in the afternoon, or a status for a few hours around a specific appointment.

If you don't see the option to add more than one status to a day yet, check with your Global Admin, or reach out to [email protected] to ask about availability for your account.

How it works

Adding a second (or third) status to your day

  1. Go to your homepage schedule or your profile's weekly view, and select the day you want to update.

  2. Set your first status and the time block it covers.

  3. Add another status for the remaining part of the day, with its own time block.

  4. Optionally, add free text to a status for more context (e.g. a client name or location).

  5. Save — your day now shows each status side by side, covering its own time range.

Viewing multiple statuses

  • Homepage schedule – a day with more than one status shows each one as its own entry, rather than a single icon for the whole day.

  • Starred colleagues widget – colleagues with multiple statuses in a day show whichever status is currently active, with the rest of their day visible if you view their profile.

  • Team and profile pages – your team can see a colleague's full day broken into its individual statuses, rather than one blended label.

Where this comes from automatically

If your organization has HR system leave sync enabled, multi-status days can also be created automatically — for example, if someone takes half a day of approved leave, Kadence sets their morning to "Working" and their afternoon to "Not working" without anyone needing to edit anything by hand. See Your working status and leave in Kadence for more on this.

Good to know

  • This feature does not require an HR system integration — it's available independently, though it also powers the leave-sync experience for organizations that do have HR system integration enabled.

  • Mobile app support is being extended to bring iOS and Android in line with the web experience. If this matters for your rollout, check with your CSM on current availability.

  • Updating your status doesn't create, cancel, or change any booking — status and bookings are separate.

FAQs

Do I have to use multiple statuses, or can I keep one status per day?

You can keep using a single status for the whole day if that's simpler for you — adding a second status is optional and only needed when your day is genuinely split.

Can I add more than two statuses to one day?

Yes — you can add as many time-blocked statuses as your day needs, as long as the time blocks make sense together.

Does this affect my existing bookings?

No — your status and your bookings are separate. Updating your status doesn't create, cancel, or change any booking.

Why don't I see the option to add a second status?

This feature is rolling out gradually and may not be enabled for your organization yet. Check with your Global Admin, or contact [email protected] to ask about enabling it.

Is this available on the Kadence mobile apps?

Mobile support is being rolled out to bring iOS and Android in line with web. If you rely on the mobile apps, check with your CSM on current availability.

Can I export a report showing multiple statuses per day?

Team status exports include each status segment for a day where more than one is set, rather than collapsing the day into a single value.
